THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family issues. She concentrates the majority of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes property distribution in marital relationships, child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions as well as concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019 helping parties to help them resolve their disputes without the needing to litigate or court involvement. In addition to mediations that are court-appointed, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.

After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, ranking among the top 10 students in her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal scholarship and research.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Subsequently, in 2014, she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, expanding her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities at the firm was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at by their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice transcended her legal career when she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017 she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law including divorce, custody and child maintenance, as well as guardianships – as well as financial and estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's needs.
