THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's present legal practice revolves around various aspects of family issues. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement matters including step-parent adoptions as well as private party adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as probate, wills, trusts and estate administration along with commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. In addition to mediations that are court-appointed, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who would prefer to avoid the litigation and court process.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the privilege of working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Subsequently, in 2014 she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to serve as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, deepening her understanding of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. The primary goal of the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases that involved child welfare. Ashley's dedicated efforts contributed greatly to helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the of their caregivers or parents. Her commitment to tackling social injustice extended beyond her legal career when she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law – divorce, custody and child maintenance as well as guardianships and financial planning and estate planning – wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.

Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with a commitment to providing a personalized approach to every client's requirements.
